Alice & Bob decodes cat-qubit error-correction codes on Nvidia GPUs, but not yet in real time

Alice & BobCat-qubit roadmap

Alice & Bob has shown that its LDPC-cat error-correction codes can be decoded on Nvidia GPUs, linking Quantum Machines control hardware to the GPUs through Nvidia's NVQLink. The result is a proof of concept on synthetic data, and the decoding was not fast enough for real-time use.

  • The setup connects Quantum Machines' OPX1000 control hardware to GPUs through NVQLink and the Open Acceleration Stack.
  • The test used synthetic data, not measurements from a physical quantum processor.
  • Decoding became more efficient when several error syndromes were processed in parallel; no latency or throughput numbers are given.
  • Real-time decoding was not reached; the next step is tuning the data path from measurement hardware to the GPU, with Nvidia.
