Agility unveils Digit 5, built to work near people without barriers; lifts 50 lb and charges a 90-minute battery in 9 minutes
Agility Robotics unveiled Digit 5, a humanoid designed to work alongside people without safety fences. Cameras, depth sensors and AI watch for nearby workers, and an independent safety controller makes the robot avoid, stop or sit down when someone comes too close. Agility's CEO calls fence-free safety a major barrier to scaling humanoids; Agility says Digit is the first humanoid to pass an independent OSHA field safety evaluation.
- Lifts 50 lb (22.7 kg), 40% more than Digit 4; runs 90 minutes on a charge and recharges in 9, so it can work 20+ hours a day.
- 1.81 m tall, 129 kg, 2.2 m reach, swappable hands on standard mounts.
- Early access in the first half of 2027, general availability by the end of 2027, first in the US, Canada, EU and UK.
- Agility reports $300 million in multi-year orders (as of May 2026); Digit 4 works at GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota Canada.
