AEVEX announces Specter, a jet-powered autonomous aircraft in development using Divergent's DAPS

Drone maker AEVEX announced Specter, a turbojet-powered autonomous aircraft now in development, with a swappable nose section for strike, electronic-warfare or surveillance payloads and both ground- and air-launched versions. It is being developed with Divergent's DAPS, a digital system that designs and 3D-prints structural parts, so that it can be changed quickly and produced in volume. It shows Divergent's platform moving further into defence aircraft.

  • The modular nose takes kinetic (strike), non-kinetic, electronic-warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance payloads.
  • AEVEX says the design targets contested airspace and long missions.
  • Divergent's role: production engineering and manufacturing through DAPS, meant to allow rapid design changes and scalable output.
  • Status: in development. No speed, range, first-flight date, production target or contract was disclosed.
