ABB Robotics launches the IRB 1700 family, claiming up to 20% shorter cycle times
ABB RoboticsIndustrial robots and cobots
ABB Robotics has introduced the IRB 1700 and IRB 1700ID, two compact industrial robots with 6 to 12 kg payloads. ABB says they cycle up to 20% faster than comparable robots, but the announcement does not name those robots or describe the test method. No availability dates were given.
- Five variants, 6 to 12 kg payload; the IRB 1700 is 50% smaller than its predecessor.
- Path repeatability of 0.03 mm and joint speeds up to 700 degrees per second; both run on ABB's OmniCore controllers.
- Up to 15% less power than the IRB 1600 at the same payload and controller; service intervals extend to 20,000 hours between oil changes.
- Built for material handling, arc welding, deburring, sanding, machine tending and AI server rack assembly.
- Software includes RobotStudio, AI Robot Trainer, OmniCore EyeMotion and automatic collision-free path planning.
