ABB launches three new robot series developed and built at its Shanghai robot factory

ABB RoboticsIndustrial robots and cobots

ABB launched three robot lines designed and built at Shanghai: Lite+ for simple pick-and-place, PoWa collaborative robots (up to 5.8 m/s, 10–13 kg payloads, ready within an hour of unboxing), and a new IRB 1200 about 20% lighter than before. The first two target China's fast-growing market for low-cost, easy-to-use automation.

  • Lite+: compact pick-and-place for electronics and small parts; lowers entry barrier for small manufacturers.
  • PoWa cobots: 5.8 m/s speed (industry-leading), 10–13 kg payloads, plug-and-play, operational in 60 minutes, no coding.
  • IRB 1200 Gen2: 20% lighter and more compact; assembly, polishing, adhesive for space-constrained cells.
  • Shanghai manufacturing supports rapid iteration and supplies China's mid-market automation demand; OmniCore controller unifies all three.
