Physics limits

Security still depends on Ethereum or DA layerOP Stack chains inherit security from whatever layer they post data to. If Ethereum faces a consensus issue, all OP Stack chains are affected.
Interop does not solve cross-DA composabilityIf one chain uses Ethereum DA and another uses Celestia, Interop cannot guarantee atomic execution across different data availability guarantees.

Modularity

Plug-and-play components

Developers choose components: Geth for execution (EVM-compatible), Ethereum or Celestia for data availability, and their own sequencer or Espresso.

Transactions

Compress to Ethereum

OP Stack chains batch transactions and post them to Ethereum (or another DA layer), leveraging L1 security without running a full validator set.

Interop

Atomic cross-chain calls

With Interop, a smart contract on OP Mainnet can call a contract on Unichain in the same transaction. Execution is atomic: both succeed or both fail.
