Nodes sample random parts of blocks. If all samples are available, the entire block is almost certainly available, without downloading it.
Avail pairs sampling with validity proofs to ensure data is honest, not just available. Rollups trust the proof.
Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, StarkWare and zkSync can use Avail as their DA layer, posting transaction data to Avail instead of Ethereum.
