The brief
- FCMP++ would hide each payment among 150M+ past outputs instead of 16; its third test network forked on 2026-10-05.
- No mainnet date: it ships after audits and tests. The last consensus code entered the final audit phase on 2026-09-30.
- About 73 exchanges dropped XMR in 2025 under EU and anti-money-laundering rules; Binance delisted it in Feb 2024.
Technical approach
Hide the sender in a crowd
Each payment today is signed so it could have come from any of 16 past outputs. FCMP++ widens the crowd to every output on the chain.
One-time addresses
Senders derive a fresh address for every payment from the recipient's public address, so outsiders cannot link payments to one person.
Hidden amounts, proven honest
Amounts are encrypted; small zero-knowledge proofs (Bulletproofs+) show no coins were created from nothing without revealing values.
RandomX, built for ordinary CPUs
Proof of work runs random programs that suit general-purpose processors, keeping specialised mining chips at a disadvantage.
