The brief

Analyst view
  • Founded 2015; Series A $13M (2021), Series B $25M (2021), Series C $20M (2024). Total $61.5M+.
  • TrueShape: hybrid 3D printing + CNC for H13/P20 tool steel. Reduces tooling lead times by 64–84%.
  • Acquired by Angstrom Group (Nov 2025). Scaling across 41 facilities for automotive and industrial.

Technical approach

As reported
Material extrusion

Metal paste extrusion

Mantle extrudes metal pastes layer by layer, similar to FDM printing but using metal powders mixed with a binder instead of polymers.

Hybrid process

Print and machine in one system

P-200 integrates a 3D printer with CNC milling. After each layer, the CNC head machines the surface to precise dimensions.

Sintering

High-temperature consolidation

The F-200 furnace sinters printed parts, burning off binder and welding powder particles into solid steel matching tool steel properties.

Materials

Industry-standard tool steels

Mantle produces parts in H13 (the most common die steel) and P2X (equivalent to P20 mold steel), enabling direct use in high-volume injection molding.
