The brief
- Spun out from Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Center in 2018, IQM has raised over €600 million.
- The company announced the Halocene product line in November 2025, starting with a 150-qubit system due by end of 2026.
- Targeting fault-tolerant quantum computing by 2030 with systems exceeding 1,000 qubits.
Technical approach
Transmon-based architecture
IQM uses superconducting qubits in an open, modular design. The Halocene line targets 99.7% physical two-qubit gate fidelity.
Quantum error correction research
Halocene enables research on up to five logical qubits using Clifford gates, with transparent QEC stack and modular decoder architecture.
Path to larger systems
The Halocene roadmap scales from 150 qubits to systems exceeding 1,000 qubits, supporting fault tolerance research.
