The brief
- The OL 9000 CS is 430 tons and 20 m long; the largest die-casting machine ever built.
- Idra won the European Inventor Award in 2024 for the Giga Press and 5S injection system.
- Deployed at Tesla and Hyundai; Volvo Košice plant ramping in 2026. Global demand far exceeds production capacity.
Technical approach
Extreme clamping force
Machines range from 200 to 9,000 tons of clamping force, allowing single castings of large panels that would otherwise require welding dozens of smaller pieces.
Aluminium and magnesium
Designed for light alloys used in automotive bodies and structures, reducing weight for efficiency without sacrificing strength.
Cycle time under two minutes
High-pressure die-casting fills the mold quickly and cools rapidly, enabling high throughput per machine.
