The brief
- Alice Recoque: a €554M, five-year project for a machine above one exaflop/s, hosted at CEA's TGCC.
- Built by Eviden with AMD MI430X GPUs and European SiPearl Rhea2 chips; delivery from end of 2026.
- GENCI is owned 49% by the French state, 20% CEA, 20% CNRS, 10% France Universités, 1% Inria.
Technical approach
Shared national machines
GENCI buys supercomputers and gives research groups and companies computing time on them through calls for proposals.
Three national centres
The machines sit at three centres: CEA's TGCC, CNRS's IDRIS and the universities' CINES. TGCC hosts the largest ones.
Co-funded with EuroHPC
The biggest systems are bought with the EU's EuroHPC body, which pays half and shares the computing time across Europe.
