WeRide and Uber begin robotaxi passenger rides in Saudi Arabia

WeRide and Uber began robotaxi rides in Riyadh on a route from Roshn Front to Princess Noura University in October 2025. Each car carried a safety operator initially; this was Saudi Arabia's first robotaxi permit and Uber's first autonomous vehicle service in the country.

• Launch: October 24, 2025 in Riyadh between Roshn Front and Princess Noura University.
• Safety: safety operator aboard initially; transition to fully driverless planned for future.
• Permitting: WeRide holds Saudi Arabia's first robotaxi permit after completing regulator's sandbox program.
