Universal Robots and Scale AI launch the UR AI Trainer, a rig that records demonstrations to train robot AI models

At NVIDIA GTC 2026, Universal Robots and Scale AI launched the UR AI Trainer for imitation learning. An operator guides a leader arm while a follower arm mirrors it, and every demonstration is saved as synchronized motion, force and video data for training vision-language-action models. It runs on the AI Accelerator, so the same arms can collect data in a lab or on a production line.
- Booth demo: two UR3e leader arms steered two UR7e followers with force feedback.
- Scale AI's software captures and manages the data, including in production.
- Generalist AI, a UR model partner, showed two UR7e arms packing a smartphone on their own with its foundation model.
- UR and Scale AI said they would release a large industrial dataset collected on UR robots later in 2026.
