Uniswap Labs launches UniswapX as an opt-in beta for intent-based MEV-protected swaps
Uniswap Labs launched UniswapX, a permissionless, open-source Dutch auction protocol where users sign off-chain orders and fillers compete to execute swaps. The protocol protects users against MEV and offers gasless swaps, with fillers paying gas costs and taking a small spread.
- Fillers compete in Dutch auctions to execute signed user orders at the best price
- No gas fees for users; fillers pay gas and take spreads of 1–5 basis points on major pairs
- Mitigates MEV by returning arbitrage gains to swappers through price improvement
- Protects against sandwich attacks and other extractive forms of MEV
