UmbraUmbra SAR constellation

NOAA removed the temporary licensing conditions Umbra had operated under, letting it sell its sharpest data. Umbra released a 16 cm resolution radar image, which it called the highest-resolution commercial satellite image ever released, and began offering complex data better than 25 cm. It also added 25 cm imagery and raw phase data to its free Open Data Program.

  • Products: single-look spotlight at 25 cm and 35 cm, plus 50 cm and 1 m.
  • Umbra said it had released over $1 million worth of free SAR data.
  • Open data uses a Creative Commons licence requiring credit to Umbra.
