Toyota puts the e-Palette shuttle on sale in Japan at ¥29 million, aiming for a driverless version in fiscal 2027

Toyotae-Palette

Seven years after its CES debut, Toyota began selling the e-Palette, a 17-person low-floor electric shuttle, built to order and sold directly. It ships with Level 2 assistance, but its control interface lets other firms' self-driving kits drive it, and Toyota aims to bring Level 4 vehicles to market in fiscal 2027 after demonstrations.

  • ¥29M before options; a Ministry of the Environment subsidy covers ¥15.835M.
  • 72.82 kWh battery, 150 kW motor, 80 km/h top speed, about 40 minutes to 80% on 90 kW DC.
  • Powered ramp for wheelchairs from a 15 cm kerb; steer-by-wire; can power buildings in a disaster.
  • First deployments at Toyota Arena Tokyo and Toyota's Woven City test town.
