Stellantis and Wayve test one AI driving system in a Fiat 500e, a Maserati Grecale and a Jeep Grand Cherokee

Stellantis

Stellantis and Wayve are running the same Wayve AI Driver, paired with Stellantis' STLA AutoDrive platform, in three different vehicles. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was the first integration earlier in 2026; the Fiat and Maserati development cars moved to road testing in under four weeks. The goal is to show that one AI model can adapt across platforms without new driving software for each model.

  • The system is Level 2++: supervised, hands-free, door-to-door driving, with the driver still responsible.
  • The Fiat and Maserati versions were shown at Wave by Vento in Turin on October 7 to 9, 2026.
  • The partnership was announced in May 2026; the first product is due in North America in 2028.
  • The same base is planned for later Level 4 driverless services, each validated separately.
  • This is not the older STLA AutoDrive Level 3 eyes-off system, which was announced for low speeds only.
