SS Innovations reports first robotic cardiac surgery in the Western Hemisphere, done with SSi Mantra 3 in Ecuador

Dr Juan Zuniga used SSi Mantra 3 at Interhospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to close an atrial septal defect, a hole between the heart's upper chambers. The company called it the first robotic cardiac operation in the Americas.

• Procedure on June 8, 2025; announced June 16.
• System: 3–5 modular arms, 3D 4K display, over 40 instrument types.
• The surgeon reported faster recovery and less bleeding than open surgery.
