Revivicor performs world's first UKidney xenotransplant under FDA expanded access
Revivicor announced the successful transplant of a UKidney (10-gene-edited pig kidney) into Towana Looney, 53, at NYU Langone Health under FDA expanded-access authorization. Looney was a highly sensitized patient who could not find a suitable human donor due to high antibody levels. The transplant demonstrated the feasibility of 10-gene xenokidney transplantation.
- First 10-gene-edited xenokidney transplant into a living patient.
- Recipient was highly sensitized (high pre-transplant antibodies), a group normally excluded from standard transplant.
- Surgery performed by Robert Montgomery, MD, at NYU Langone Health.
- Early post-transplant function was successful.
