Pelican-3 and Pelican-4 launch
Planet launched Pelican-3 and Pelican-4, the third and fourth high-resolution imaging satellites in its next-generation Pelican constellation, on August 26 aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The satellites are equipped with 40 cm resolution across six multispectral bands and NVIDIA Jetson AI platforms.
- Launch: August 26, 2025 on Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
- Imaging capability: 40 cm class resolution across 6 multispectral bands; AI-enabled for on-orbit computing.
- First light: Pelican-3 imaged Turin, Italy on September 5, 2025 from 458 km altitude.
- Commissioning: successful contact established; both satellites now undergoing operational commissioning.
