Path Robotics launches Rove, a mobile welding robot run by its Obsidian AI model

Path RoboticsAutonomous welding cell

Path Robotics launched Rove, which mounts its Obsidian AI welding system on a four-legged robot so it can walk to large structures such as ship sections instead of parts coming to a fixed cell. The quadruped base enables autonomous welding of massive assemblies with inconsistent fit-up in shipbuilding and heavy construction, addressing skilled welder shortages. Autonomous boat builder Saronic is an early adopter.

  • Pairs Obsidian physical AI model with quadruped robot for mobile autonomous welding.
  • Performs complex, variable welds that traditional fixed automation cannot handle.
  • Addresses shipbuilding and heavy construction where parts cannot be moved or fixtured.
  • Saronic Technologies (autonomous maritime vessels) is first company testing Rove in shipyard operations.
