Moonshot releases Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter model with a 1M-token context
Moonshot AI launched Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model, in its app and API, with weights promised for 27 July. It debuted third on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, behind only Claude Fable and GPT-5.6 Sol, and second on the Vals AI Index. Analyst Nathan Lambert called it the strongest open model ever released and the closest open models have come to the frontier since DeepSeek R1.
