LyGenesis doses first patient in Phase 2a trial growing ectopic livers in lymph nodes for end-stage liver disease

LyGenesisLYG-LIV-001 ectopic liver

LyGenesis dosed the first patient in an open-label, dose-escalation Phase 2a trial of LYG-LIV-001, donor liver cells injected into lymph nodes that act as living bioreactors to grow ectopic liver. The trial plans 12 patients with end-stage liver disease, each followed for over a year, with a safety board reviewing each cohort before the next, higher dose.

  • Trial NCT04496479: open-label, dose-escalation, 12 planned patients.
  • Cells come from donated livers that could not be matched for transplant.
  • CEO Michael Hufford: one donated liver could treat many dozens of patients if it works.
  • Investors include Juvenescence and Prime Movers Lab.
