Lumentum buys Qorvo's Greensboro fab to make indium phosphide lasers for AI data centers

Lumentum acquired a 240,000 sq ft chip plant in Greensboro, North Carolina from Qorvo and will retrofit it to make continuous-wave and ultra-high-power indium phosphide lasers. Production is to ramp from mid-2028, adding to fabs that are already fully booked.
