LONGi announced a world record efficiency of 28.13% for a high-efficiency back-contact (HIBC) silicon solar cell. The back-contact design moves all metal electrodes to the rear, freeing the front surface for light capture and pushing silicon cells near their theoretical efficiency limit. LONGi plans to commercialize HIBC modules in the coming years.
