Lila wins three Phase I awards in the DOE Genesis Mission, including AI-run carbon-to-chemicals and semiconductor projects
Lila SciencesAI Science Factory
Three Lila proposals were selected for Phase I awards in the US Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, which links national-lab supercomputers and instruments with AI to speed up science. Each project pairs Lila's autonomous labs with a national lab or university, on turning waste carbon into chemicals and on semiconductor physics.
- AI-Enabled Electrochemical Refinery with Caltech and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory: searches over 10 billion mixes of gases, electrolytes and conditions.
- Polyethylene from waste carbon with Northwestern and Argonne: carbon to ethylene, then to plastic.
- Charge transport in wide-band-gap semiconductors with the National Laboratory of the Rockies.
- Award amounts were not disclosed.
