Jimusar 200 MW / 1 GWh vanadium flow battery system begins operation in Xinjiang

Rongke Power/Jimusar 200 MW / 1 GWh Vanadium Flow Battery

The Jimusar facility, developed by Huaneng Xinjiang and integrated by PowerChina, entered operation as the world's largest vanadium flow battery system. The 1,000 MWh / 200 MW system is co-located with a 1 GW solar plant and is designed to address renewable curtailment in Xinjiang by enabling five-hour energy shifting.

• 1,000 MWh capacity at 200 MW power output, five-hour discharge duration
• CNY 3.8 billion ($520 million) investment; construction completed mid-2025
• Rongke Power supplied the vanadium redox battery technology
• Expected to enable utilization of an additional 230 GWh of renewable energy yearly
