ispace's Hakuto-R Mission 1 lander lost communication 89 meters above the lunar surface due to an altitude miscalculation. The spacecraft ran out of fuel and made a hard impact. Despite the failure, the mission achieved eight of ten milestones and marked the furthest distance traveled by a privately funded spacecraft.
