Ironwood upgrade replaces Orchard with quantum-resistant privacy pool

Zcash activated the Ironwood upgrade in July 2026, replacing the Orchard shielded pool with a new design incorporating quantum-resistant transaction structures. The upgrade followed the May counterfeiting vulnerability and improved overall security.
