IBM puts a 5-qubit quantum processor on the cloud

IBM

IBM Research opened a five-qubit superconducting processor at its Yorktown Heights lab to the public through the IBM Cloud via the IBM Quantum Experience platform. It was the first time anyone could run experiments on a real quantum processor over the internet.

  • Five-qubit superconducting processor at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY.
  • Accessible via IBM Cloud on any desktop or mobile device; tutorials and simulations for learning.
  • First public access to run real quantum experiments on real hardware over the internet.
  • Superconducting metals on silicon chips with standard fab techniques; roadmap to add qubits and different processor types.
