Heidelberg inaugurates Brevik CCS, world's first industrial cement carbon capture facility

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and 320+ international guests attended June 18, 2025 opening of Brevik CCS. Facility captures 400,000 tonnes CO2/year from cement production (50% of emissions), liquefies it, ships to Norwegian coast, pipes 2,600 km to permanent storage under the North Sea.
