Google releases Veo 2 with up to 4K output and more realistic motion
Google released Veo 2, which understands cinematography: users can ask for a genre, lens type or camera effect, and it produces video at up to 4K resolution and minutes in length. It rolled out in Google Labs' VideoFX alongside improved Imagen 3 and a new image tool, Whisk. All outputs include an SynthID watermark.
- Generates video up to 4K resolution, minutes in length; understands cinematography and physics
- Accepts requests for genre, lens type (e.g., 18mm), camera effects, depth of field, tracking shots
- Reduced AI artifacts like extra fingers; improved human movement and expression realism
- All outputs watermarked with SynthID to identify as AI-generated; expanded rollout to YouTube Shorts planned
