WardsAuto reported that Ford declared a $19.5 billion write-down tied to its EV investments, mostly in the fourth quarter of 2025, as it ended the all-electric F-150 Lightning less than four years after launch. The range-extended replacement is expected on the market in 2027. Ford CEO Jim Farley called the change a customer-driven shift.

- The petrol engine acts only as a generator and is not connected to the wheels
- Ford is shifting money toward trucks and vans, hybrids and battery energy storage
