FDA clears Moon Surgical's ScoPilot, an AI feature that makes Maestro's camera follow the surgeon's instrument

Moon SurgicalMaestro

The FDA cleared ScoPilot, which lets the laparoscope held by Maestro follow the tip of a chosen instrument on demand. The surgeon steers the camera without letting go of the tools in their hands. It runs locally on the robot using NVIDIA Holoscan, which the companies call the first AI application to run during surgery on a commercial surgical robot with that platform.

  • CEO Anne Osdoit: ScoPilot lets surgeons control three instruments with two hands.
  • Maestro (FDA-cleared June 2024) had treated over 1,100 patients in the US and Europe.
  • Used in general, bariatric, gynecologic and urologic surgery.
