Fanuc announces a collaboration with Google to bring Gemini and Intrinsic AI software to its robots
Fanuc, maker of 1.1 million installed industrial robots, said it will integrate Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise and Google's Intrinsic Flowstate software into its robots. This enables natural-language instructions, object identification, and visual programming with minimal code. Fanuc shares rose 16% to a record on the announcement.
- Fanuc has 1.1 million robots installed globally; integration applies to this massive existing fleet.
- Gemini Enterprise processes natural language instructions and identifies objects; Intrinsic Flowstate provides no-code development.
- Replicates Android strategy: software platform across multiple hardware manufacturers rather than device-building alone.
- Fanuc shares surged 16% to record 8,880 yen, reflecting market confidence in the software-as-platform approach.
