Eli Lilly advances eloralintide (amylin agonist) to phase 3 trials for obesity as monotherapy and add-on to incretin drugs
Eli Lilly began two phase 3 trials of eloralintide in early 2026 following positive phase 2 data. ENLIGHTEN-1 is testing eloralintide as a standalone obesity treatment in about 1,980 patients, while ENLIGHTEN-6 evaluates it as an add-on to incretin-based therapies (targeting liver fat and weight loss) in 900 patients. Both trials are expected to complete in early 2028.
- ENLIGHTEN-1: monotherapy for obesity, 1,980 patients, completion mid-2028.
- ENLIGHTEN-6: add-on to incretin therapy, 900 patients, completion mid-2028.
- Eloralintide is a selective amylin receptor agonist; phase 2 met primary endpoint.
- Part of Lilly's multi-pronged obesity portfolio alongside tirzepatide and other candidates.
