Diraq and Equinix to deploy 8-qubit silicon spin quantum computer at Equinix Sydney; world's first in a shared commercial data center
DiraqEquinix Sydney Deployment
Diraq and Equinix announced plans to deploy an eight-qubit silicon spin quantum computer at Equinix's Sydney data center in October 2026. The system will operate in a standard server-room environment, consuming less than 20 kW, with self-contained cryogenic cooling and control electronics. The deployment will mark the first quantum computer to operate alongside classical infrastructure in a shared commercial facility, enabling remote testing and enterprise partnerships.
- Eight CMOS-fabricated silicon spin qubits in a standard data center footprint
- Total power <20 kW, far lower than cryogenic alternatives; scales by chip replacement without infrastructure changes
- Enables remote access and hybrid quantum-classical workflow testing; enterprise partner access planned for 2027
