CoMind publishes first peer-reviewed papers on its CoMind R1 optical brain blood-flow prototype
CoMind published two companion papers in Neurophotonics. The first used simulations to show that light must travel about 1 ns or longer before a measurement is dominated by the brain rather than the scalp. The second showed its R1 prototype reaching that depth in 25 healthy adults, with brain-specific responses to visual stimulation and no significant drift over 24 hours.
- Simulations: about 1.2 ns of photon travel time is needed to cover 85% of adult brain depths.
- R1 uses a 1064 nm swept laser, multimode fibres and parallel detection, with 120 ps timing resolution.
- Visual stimulation produced depth-dependent blood flow responses over the visual cortex.
- CoMind One, the product version, is targeted for a 2027 launch.
