Coinbase and Deribit open six USDC-settled equity perpetual futures for non-US traders
CoinbaseCoinbase derivatives (incl. Deribit)
Coinbase and Deribit launched six perpetual futures on individual stocks and stock ETFs, cash-settled in USDC and trading 24/7, for users outside the US. Perpetuals have no expiry, so periodic payments between traders keep the price tied to the underlying stock.
- The markets are CoreWeave (CRWV), Oracle (ORCL), Dell (DELL), Palantir (PLTR), SOXS, a leveraged inverse semiconductor ETF, and SNXX.
- Traders receive USDC, not the underlying shares; when the contract trades above the stock, longs pay shorts, and when below, shorts pay longs.
- Leverage of up to 50x is available on some products; the article warns a 2% adverse move can wipe out posted margin at that level.
- US persons are excluded, and the article says US regulatory changes could affect who gets access and how fast.
