Carbon Robotics launches its Autonomy Ready program; Great Plains Manufacturing joins as first member

Carbon RoboticsCarbon ATK

Carbon Robotics launched Carbon Autonomy Ready, a set of technical specifications and an integration process that lets other manufacturers' farm implements connect to its tractor-autonomy system. Great Plains Manufacturing, a Kansas maker of planting, seeding and soil-management equipment, is the first member. The point: a driverless tractor can tune the tool it pulls in real time, instead of needing an operator to make those changes by hand.

  • Tractors running Carbon Autonomy read live data from the connected Great Plains implement and adjust working depth, down pressure and levelling themselves
  • Great Plains links its existing Implement Command control system to Carbon Autonomy to exchange data
  • Demo planned at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa: a Great Plains HT1100 Terra-Max tillage tool with integrated sensors and a Carbon implement kit
  • Great Plains, founded in 1976 and owned by Kubota, employs more than 2,200 people
  • Carbon pitches it as cross-brand, so farmers can mix implements from different makers; founder Paul Mikesell cites longer working hours and operator shortages
