Brimstone details roadmap to co-produce aluminium, magnesium, titanium and other metals with cement

BrimstoneBrimstone process

Brimstone announced plans to co-produce steel, aluminium, magnesium, titanium and other critical minerals at its Rock Refinery alongside cement and supplementary cementitious materials, disrupting a $2.4 trillion-plus market. The facility will split common calcium-silicate rocks into their elements, with the first plant near Reno, Nevada starting with cement, alumina and SCM only.

  • The Rock Refinery splits silicate rock into component elements via a fully electrified process, enabling production of commodities accounting for over 95% of all mined materials.
  • Initial production will focus on ordinary portland cement, smelter-grade alumina and supplementary cementitious materials; expansion into steel, magnesium and titanium follows.
  • One Rock Refinery shares costs across multiple products, lowering the capital intensity of metal and mineral production compared to standalone plants.
