Bridge wins conditional OCC approval to become a national trust bank

The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency conditionally approved Bridge to organise a national trust bank. Once final, Bridge could custody digital assets, issue stablecoins and manage reserves under direct federal supervision. Circle, Ripple, Paxos, BitGo and Fidelity Digital Assets won similar conditional approvals in December 2025.
- Charter would cover custody, stablecoin issuance and reserve management.
- Conditions include $45M tier-1 capital and a 180-day liquidity buffer.
- OCC signed the decision on 12 Feb 2026; no final approval or timeline as of Aug 2026.
- Before late 2025, Anchorage (chartered 2021) was the only crypto firm with a national trust charter.
