Boeing agrees to sell Wisk, with Insitu and SkyGrid, to Archer Aviation in exchange for Archer shares

Wisk AeroWisk Generation 6

Archer agreed to buy Boeing's Wisk (self-flying air taxis), Insitu (military drones) and SkyGrid (air-traffic software), paying in new Archer shares equal to about 19.75% of its stock plus two warrants of $100 million each. Boeing becomes a major Archer shareholder and keeps access to Wisk's autonomy technology. Closing is expected by the end of 2026, pending antitrust review.

  • Wisk has spent 16 years on autonomous eVTOLs, through six aircraft generations and over 1,700 test flights.
  • Insitu has delivered over 3,500 drones to 35 countries; together the three units bring over $200M in annual revenue.
  • Boeing's stake after closing is reported at roughly 16.5% of Archer.
  • The two companies were courtroom rivals: Wisk sued Archer over trade secrets in 2021 and they settled in 2023.
  • Archer has not said what happens to Wisk's Gen 6 aircraft program alongside its own Midnight air taxi.
