BMW opens European orders for the 2027 iX5 with 800V architecture and Double-X lights
BMW's all-electric iX5 gets its 2027 specification and European pricing, with orders open in Europe. A pre-production car was seen testing in public ahead of a US launch planned for early 2027. The model introduces the Double-X lighting signature shared with the X5.
- The 800V Gen6 eDrive gives up to 460 kW DC fast charging, which BMW says takes 10% to 80% in 23 minutes.
- Europe gets a 141 kWh battery with up to 750 km WLTP range; the US gets 144 kWh with BMW's estimate of up to 435 miles EPA range, not yet final.
- The dual-motor model makes 578 hp and reaches 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, according to BMW.
- Pricing is 102,800 euros in Germany and from $79,800 plus a $1,450 destination fee in the US.
- US production is due to start at the Spartanburg plant by the end of 2026, with US sales in early 2027.
