Axelera AI announces Metis, a 214 TOPS edge AI chip built on digital in-memory computing

Axelera AI unveiled its first chip, Metis, a quad-core inference processor whose cores multiply inside SRAM memory. It claimed up to 214 TOPS at 15 TOPS/W in 8-bit integer maths, with full-precision accuracy without retraining networks.

• Four cores of up to 53.5 TOPS each; over 52 MiB of on-chip memory.
• Sold as an M.2 card (214 TOPS) and a four-chip PCIe card (856 TOPS).
