Altos Labs names Skip Virgin chief medical officer and head of its Institute of Medicine

Altos Labs named Herbert 'Skip' Virgin, MD, PhD as chief medical officer and head of its Institute of Medicine from September 2022. Dr. Virgin is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences and previously served as executive vice president of research and chief scientific officer at Vir Biotechnology, overseeing over 150 scientists in immune-based infectious disease approaches.

• Dr. Virgin earned AB, MD, and PhD from Harvard University and is a National Academy of Sciences member.
• Previously EVP of Research and Chief Scientific Officer at Vir Biotechnology leading 150+ scientists.
• Held Edward Mallinckrodt Professorship and Chair of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine.
• Directed NIH-funded Midwest Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases.
