Air Liquide and Holcim sign carbon capture agreement for Obourg; project timeline faces delay
Air Liquide and Holcim finalized an agreement combining Holcim's air-oxyfuel kiln with Air Liquide's Cryocap OXY technology to capture up to 1.1 million tonnes CO₂ annually from Obourg. However, the project timeline has slipped: the carbon capture component was paused in February 2026 due to uncertainties around CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure in Belgium. Net-zero production target moved from 2029 to late 2030 or early 2031.
