A full-scale Blue Ghost Mission 2 stack, lander on Elytra Dark, is vibration-tested at NASA JPL
Firefly's Blue Ghost Mission 2 stack—the lander mounted on its Elytra Dark orbiter carrying ESA's Lunar Pathfinder relay and standing 6.9 meters tall—underwent vibration testing at JPL to qualify the design for launch stresses. The 2026 mission will land NASA payloads, including the LuSEE-Night radio telescope, on the Moon's far side.
- Full stack height: 6.9 meters; components: Blue Ghost lander, Elytra Dark orbiter, Lunar Pathfinder relay.
- Testing: vibration shaker table at JPL's Environmental Test Laboratory confirmed structural integrity.
- Payloads: LuSEE-Night radio telescope (NASA, DOE, UC Berkeley collaboration), JPL S-band communications terminal.
- Target: Moon far side 2026; first Firefly lunar mission (Blue Ghost 1) landed successfully March 2025.
