1X details NEO's tendon-driven hands with 25 degrees of freedom
1X detailed NEO's hands: 25 total degrees of freedom using quasi-direct-drive tendons with low gear ratios of 5:1 to 15:1, enabling force transparency so motors can feel reaction forces. The hands feature 22 fully actuated joints in fingers and palm, 3 at the wrist, natively force-controlled feedback, and tactile sensing across fingertips with slip detection.
- Tendons enable force transparency: motors feel forces without extra sensors, improving grasp control and safety.
- Waterproof with IP68 rating and food-safe materials for continuous reliable operation across millions of interaction cycles.
- Peak torques: 3.5 Nm thumb, 2.6 Nm finger joints, 17.75 Nm wrist; positioning accuracy to ±0.2 mm.
- All 25 joints provide proprioceptive feedback; fingertip arrays measure normal force, contact location, and shear.
